Basic TV — 55+ channels for $30/mo.
Basic TV is designed for households that mainly want local broadcast channels and don’t need the full cable experience. It’s also the entry point for bundling — add Basic TV to any Fioptics internet plan for just $30 more per month. See Basic TV pricing and details →
What you get with Basic TV:
Local broadcast stations including ABC (KITV 4), CBS (KGMB 9), NBC (KHNL 8), FOX (KHON 2), PBS (KHET 11), and The CW. You also get public access channels, C-SPAN, BYU TV, Bounce TV, Antenna TV, and a selection of other over-the-air and basic cable channels.
Who it’s for: Households that primarily watch local news, network TV shows, and don’t need ESPN or cable news. It’s also a good fit for families who do most of their watching through streaming apps and just want live local channels as a supplement.
What you won’t get: No ESPN, CNN, Fox News, HGTV, Discovery, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, or any of the major cable networks. If you watch sports beyond local broadcasts or want cable entertainment channels, you’ll need to step up to Advantage.
Advantage TV — 175+ channels for $90/mo.
This is where most households land. Advantage TV includes everything in Basic plus the full lineup of major cable networks — sports, news, entertainment, kids, and lifestyle channels. View Advantage TV on our TV packages page →
Notable channels included in Advantage:
- Sports: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, CBS Sports, FS1, FS2, NFL Network, Spectrum Sports (ch. 89 — live UH athletics), Big Ten Network, Golf Channel
- News: CNN, CNBC, Fox News, Fox Business, MSNBC, HLN, BBC World News, CNN International
- Entertainment: TBS, TNT, USA, FX, FXX, FXM, AMC, Comedy Central, E!, Bravo, Syfy, Paramount Network
- Kids: Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Cartoon Network, Boomerang
- Lifestyle: HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Discovery, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, OWN, Lifetime, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
- Other: MTV, VH1, BET, A&E, History Channel, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Smithsonian Channel
Who it’s for: Families with varied interests, sports fans who want ESPN and UH coverage, and anyone who considers cable news and entertainment channels part of their daily routine.
The UH sports angle: Advantage includes Spectrum Sports on channel 89, which carries live University of Hawaii athletics — the same UH content that airs on OC16’s sports feed. You also get access to UH Pay-Per-View channels (ch. 437–439) for select games and season packages. If watching Rainbow Warriors football and basketball is important to your household, Advantage has you covered. Advantage Plus TV — 215+ channels for $100/mo.
Advantage Plus adds roughly 40 more channels on top of Advantage for just $10 more per month. The additional channels are primarily deeper sports, entertainment, and music options.
What you get beyond Advantage:
Additional sports networks, more music channels, additional entertainment and lifestyle options, and expanded international programming. If you find yourself regularly wishing you had “that one channel” that isn’t in the Advantage package, Advantage Plus likely fills the gap.
Who it’s for: Households that want the most complete channel lineup available. At only $10 more than Advantage, it’s a relatively low-cost upgrade for a meaningful jump in channel count. Compare all three TV packages →
Premium channel add-ons
On top of your base package, you can add premium channels:
- HBO / Max — HBO, HBO 2, HBO Signature, HBO Family, HBO Comedy, HBO Zone, HBO Latino
- Showtime — Showtime, Showtime 2, Showtime Extreme, Showtime Beyond, Showtime Next, Showtime Women
- Starz — Starz, Starz Edge, Starz Comedy, Starz Cinema
Premium channels are available as add-ons to Advantage and Advantage Plus packages. Contact us for current add-on pricing, or visit our TV packages page for more details.
Features included with every Fioptics+ package
Regardless of which tier you choose, all Fioptics+ TV packages include:
Cloud DVR — Record your shows and watch them later. The DVR is cloud-based, so your recordings aren’t tied to a single set-top box. You can start a recording from your phone and watch it on your living room TV.
Restart TV — Missed the beginning of a show? Restart TV lets you jump back to the beginning of select programs, even if you didn’t set a recording. Shows are available for restart for up to 48 hours.
On Demand — Access a library of movies and TV episodes on demand, included with your subscription.
Fioptics+ app — Stream live TV, manage your DVR, and watch On Demand content from your phone, tablet, or laptop. Available on iOS and Android. You can watch at home or on the go — so you won’t miss the UH game even if you’re not in front of your TV.
One guide for everything — The Fioptics+ interface combines live TV, your DVR recordings, On Demand content, and your streaming apps into a single guide. Less switching between inputs, more watching.
The OC16 question
We hear this one constantly, so let’s address it directly: OC16 is not available on Hawaiian Telcom. It is a Spectrum-exclusive channel owned by Charter Communications. This is a business decision by Spectrum, and it’s not something Hawaiian Telcom can change.
That said, if your main concern is watching UH sports — which is the reason most people care about OC16 — Hawaiian Telcom carries Spectrum Sports on channel 89 with Advantage and Advantage Plus packages. That’s where UH athletics air. You can also add UH Pay-Per-View channels for additional game coverage, and many UH games are available on ESPN+ and Peacock.

Bundling TV with internet
The best value comes from bundling. When you add Basic TV to a Fioptics internet plan, both start at $30/mo each — so you can have fiber internet and live TV for as little as $60/mo combined before gateway fees and taxes.
Here are a few popular bundle combinations:
Budget-friendly: Fioptics 400 Mbps Internet + Basic TV — Starting around $60/mo. combined. Good for smaller households that want local channels and solid internet.
Most popular: Fioptics 600 Mbps Internet + Advantage TV — Fiber internet with the full cable channel lineup. This is the sweet spot for most Hawaii families.
All-in: Fioptics 1 Gig or 3 Gig Internet + Advantage Plus TV — Maximum speed, maximum channels. Great for large households with heavy streaming and multiple devices.
